If you're looking for a soft underfoot cushioned flooring for your next home redesign, then carpet might be the right flooring material for you. Regardless of the room or type of space, carpet generates a warm, cozy, and overall peaceful quality. But, before you invest in carpet flooring, you'll want to read up on the various types and particular qualities of carpet that are presently on the market, to ensure that you find the perfect style and feel.

1) Polyester carpeting
Capable of maintaining its brilliant color, polyester fiber carpets are attractive due to their ability to keep their lively, alluring colors without fading. What's more, they're ideal for allergy sufferers, as they are hypoallergenic. An interesting fact about polyester carpet is that it is often manufactured using recycled plastic, which makes it ecologically-friendly.

2) Nylon carpeting
Nylon carpeting is a favorite because it is very cozy, long-lasting, and naturally repels stains. Unaffected by moisture, nylon carpet resists mildew and mold build-up. To make your nylon carpet even more resistant to stains, have it treated with additional specialized anti-stain products. This is especially helpful if your household includes young children or muddy pets.

3) Wool carpeting
Speak to any wool carpet owner, and they'll happily insist that wool carpet is the softest carpeting material. Not only is wool carpet a natural material, but it is also an enduring and elegant flooring option. Make sure to select higher-grade wool, as it is much less susceptible to staining.

4) Polypropylene carpeting
Polypropylene carpet material is nearly as delicate as nylon, and makes an excellent flooring choice for any room you wish to update. Polypropylene fibers are resistant to mold, stains, and fiber shedding, and is a wonderful carpeting that is remarkably flexible and sturdy.

Choosing a Carpet Pile

Carpet pile refers to the density of the fibers used to create the carpet. When a carpet is manufactured, looped yarn passes through a section of reinforcement material, known as backing. This looping movement mimics that of someone sewing a button onto a dress shirt. These yarn loops either remain whole or are cut in multiple angled edges, forming what is known as the carpet pile. Carpet pile comes in many varieties, including Frieze, Saxony, Textured, and Plush cut.
